My name is Izzy Alvarez and I am Junior at Eastern Washington University (EWU). I am majoring in Secondary English Education while pursuing a TESOL certificate. I plan on completing my student teaching and graduating from EWU in March 2024 with a 4.0 GPA. Currently, I have almost completed all of my college courses and I am only a few classes away from receiving my TESOL certificate.

I am currently working with young adults in conversation classes to help them practice their English speaking skills. I have completed numerous hours working with English Language Learners (ELLs) and have spent the last two years at EWU studying and preparing to teach English as a Second Language (ESL).

My recent experiences at college will allow me to tutor English Literature, and related subjects, with an emphasis on college preparation. Because I am a college student, I know what universities are looking for in college composition and writing. My experiences as an upperclassman enable me to be a well-informed instructor on college and career readiness and expectations.

I have experience instructing and working with older children, teens, and young adults. Though my major is Secondary English Education, I am willing to work with youth of all ages! I work to create a comfortable and safe environment for my students to learn and develop, while paying close attention to students' individual learning needs. Due to my college studies, I have access to numerous new resources provided for English literature and ESL students, and I will use these materials to help my students succeed in their academic goals.

I am a kind, personable, and patient instructor who is excited to begin helping students as I finalize my college degree. As a student, I know how stressful waiting for grades and feedback on assignments can be. Because of this, I aim to give quality feedback at a reasonable time and hope to work closely with students and their families in order to reach their academic goals.

In my free time, I enjoy reading, writing songs, playing instruments (piano, guitar, ukulele), and singing.
